Fashion & Politics

Happy Monday everyone!

Sorry for the lack of a What I Wore Wednesday post this week, I was ultra busy as I went to the Coldplay concert with my fabulous mother. It was the the most beautiful, amazing experience ever especially because Coldplay is my favorite band of all time so it was very special. Anyways, moving on...

Chris Martin (lead singer of Coldplay) getting into the act
This weekend I had the most wonderful time going to an overnight convention for a debate/youth politics organization I belong to called JSA. Junior State of America (JSA) is basically a mock government that is entirely high school student run and in that mock government we debate, write bills, and fight political apathy in today's high schoolers. I absolutely am obsessed and in love with JSA because I feel is it a place for me to voice my opinion and to get my voice heard which is really hard when you're not allowed to vote yet.

Part of the fun of these conventions is that you get to dress business/professional. As a high school student, I rarely get the chance to dress professionally, especially since I don't work so this is a great occasion for me. I find it so fun to dress proffesionally because I feel for women, it's an art just like all fashion is. You have to make sure you don't look revealing, but still reveal your personal style. Some of my personal favorite looks are as follows:

dress by H&M
This dress is the closest thing I could find to an actual dress that I wore on Saturday. It is the same in that it is 3/4 sleeved and black, but mine is less form fitting, but not frumpy looking, and only an inch above the knee instead of this short version. Now, some would say that this frock is boring, and it is, I do admit that, but I dress it up with a skinny patent leather belt, and some colorful heels. As of now, this is the only visual I can give you, but hopefully in the next week or so I can re-create my outfit and post it on here.

My final outfit is this:

I really love the bright blouse with the neutral skirt. I feel like it's an unexpected surprise and really adds some spice to an outfit. I usually just stay with standard black heels for this sort of outfit just because the shirt is already so bright.

Well I hope this was a tad helpful for some ideas for younger ladies who are absolutely perplexed as what to wear for a business/professional event.

Have a lovely rest of your day!!

xx Andie
